What this place is
A restored historic building on Şah Değirmeni Street, in Şahkulu. One flat on each of the four floors, and all four are ours — you come to the door and get the key from us, with nobody in between.
The flats are identical: 45 m², a king bed in one bedroom, one bathroom, a fully equipped kitchen, a washing machine, air conditioning and fast wifi. Each has a balcony and a sitting corner. The restoration left the fabric of the building alone — the stone walls and the timber are still there.
The building has four floors and no lift. That makes the floor a real choice: on the first floor you climb the least, on the fourth you stop hearing the street altogether.

The neighbourhood
Galata is the old part of Beyoğlu: stone buildings and narrow streets. On one side the crowds of İstiklal Avenue, on the other the Golden Horn and the historic peninsula.
Our street is quiet, with cafés, small shops and instrument makers within walking distance. Galata Tower is 2 minutes away, İstiklal 1, the Galata Bridge 5. Karaköy's coffee houses and fish restaurants are five minutes downhill; cross the bridge and you are in Eminönü and the old city.
The neighbourhood is steep — honestly. Our street is short but on a slope, so with heavy luggage have the taxi bring you to the door.

House rules
Check-in 15:00–23:00, check-out by 11:00. If you arrive early or leave late you can drop your bags with us — just tell us beforehand.
No smoking inside the flats; the balcony is fine. Small dogs and cats are welcome — tell us before you book and we will work out which flat suits.
This is a residential building: after 23:00, please keep it down for the neighbours. The number of guests on the booking is the number of people staying; for anyone extra, write to us first.
Getting here
From the airport: both are outside the city, 45 minutes to an hour and a half depending on traffic. The easiest is a private transfer arranged in advance — we can book it and you are met at the door. Airport buses run to Taksim, and from there it is a walk or a short taxi ride.
By metro: Şişhane station is a 5-minute walk and the M2 line reaches most of the city. The tram stop in Karaköy is about 7 minutes downhill and goes straight to the old city. There is also the Tünel funicular for the days you would rather not walk up the hill.
By car: the building has no car park of its own; there is a covered one 200 metres away. Tell us your arrival time and we will be at the door.
